Well I should have put that onesie on him and let him wear it proud because Hudson is 100% BOY. He gets into everything there is to get into. Toys are a bore. He loves the garbage can, the toilet, the toilet paper, any decoration that is at an arm's reach (so to answer your question Stephanie, YES he does get into the pumpkins on my coffee table), kitchen drawers, bathroom cabinets, and his latest facination: Floor Vents. The interest in floor vents started about a month ago when I couldn't find his sippy cup and discovered a hole in the carpet with a floor vent sitting nearby. He likes to pull them up and proceed to throw anything he can find down the vent. I've rescued multiple cups, bottles, remote controls, and toys from our vents in the last few weeks. Finally after the last bottle escaped down the vent before I could get it, I decided the game was over, the vents would have to be covered. Needless to say, our house may start stinking like rotten formula soon. I tried everything to get that bottle. It's waaaaaayy down there.
The problem is, I forgot one vent in our bedroom. Dan came home from work last week and ran upstairs to change out of his suit. He brought Hudson with him and while Dan was in his closet changing Hudson, of course, found the vent and picked it up. Within seconds he either hit himself in the head or tripped and fell onto the vent and split his forehead open.
After confirming with the pediatric answering service, I found myself practically laying on top of Hudson in the ER while the doctor and team of five helpers held him down for stitches. A whole lot of tears and five stitches later, it's safe to say he might stay away from the floor vents for awhile. Or so we shall pray.
But I think it's probably just the beginning of stitches for this little guy.
Thanks again Emily for keeping us entertained at the hospital. My sister is the most resourceful person I know. Drums out of straws and paper cups, the camera on her cell phone, songs, rubber glove balloons, story books out of boring adult magazines, silly faces, she kept Hudson busy for the hours and hours they made us wait in our teeny room full of NOTHING.

Poor little Hudson.
ReplyDeleteWe had to do that with Kaeden when he was Hudson's age. He decided to climb up to his high chair, turned around and fell forward onto another kitchen chair. His stitches ran vertically and when he was all done he told the doctor thank you. Amy's son split his head a little while back and they used glue, no strapping down, no stitches. I'm not sure why they chose glue over stitches, but the glue sounded a lot better than stitches.
anytime!! :) and now huts and i are TWINS with our matching scars!
ReplyDeletei wish they had given aiden stitches instead of glue, that fell off. but now he has his little "harry potter scar"...
