berry pickin

After lots of rain and a violent stomach bug that passed through Vacation Bible School and then the Keller house, my kids were ready to get out and do something outside. Since Hudson's farm party is next week, we decided to go pick fresh berries to make homemade jam with for...Spoiler Alert...jam favors at his party. The Walkers joined us early yesterday morning for our berry picking adventure.

From the tractor ride to the most amazing sweet berries...(and a 2 year old that took a three hour nap afterwards), the $48 price tag on my berries was worth every dollar. As I was buckling Hudson into his car seat when we were finished he said "MOM, that was SO fun." Mommy: Success.

I spent the rest of the afternoon canning jam with my friend Lorelei. She walked me through the process and before we knew it, we had 65 jars of jam. Whoops. I was hoping for 24-30 jars. My kids have a lot of PB&J in their future.
