My kids get really into a certain show/theme/character/movie, and become a little obsessed. Maybe it's my all or nothing personality that has trickled down to their little personalities. I think it's great to show passion for something, even if it is currently Peter Pan, and Jake and the Neverland Pirates. To include Hudson in this dress-up-for-Disneyland thing Ally had going, I packed H's pirate Halloween costume. He loved it. He felt just like Jake with the bandana tied around his head. So with H outfitted in pirate gear and Ally dressed as Tinkerbell, we set off for Disney day 4.
First stop, Pixie Hollow to meet Tink and her friends. Hudson didn't care about Tink, so after we waited our turn, we went over to California Adventure to see Jake on stage at Disney Junior. We got there right as the line was about to go inside the theatre. Dan jumped into the line with the kids, and I went to park the stroller. A Disney worker helped me find the stroller parking, then flagged me into the theatre early. Score! I headed right to the front row and saved 4 spots. I watched crowd after crowd enter the studio waiting for Dan, happily from our awesome seats. When Dan and the kids finally got inside, he just looked at me like, really? Don't underestimate this Disney Mom. My kid was going to see Jake and the Neverland Pirates from the best seat in the house!
After the show, I asked the Disney lady if Jake was walking around anywhere. She said he sometimes is outside the theatre. Another lucky moment, he was right outside and there was only one kid in line to see him. Yay! Unfortunately H got stage fright, and wouldn't go see Jake. Ally happily stepped right up, gave Jake a kiss on his cheek, and got her autograph. Hudson still wouldn't budge, so the whole fam stepped in for a pic. So funny how kids are when they see the characters. I guess it's probably like us when we meet a celebrity. It can be a little intimidating. After he got comfortable, he gave Jake a hug, then walked away beaming with joy.
Next up was Ariel's Grotto for lunch. Since Cinderella wasn't at the Princess Fantasy Faire, I told Ally I'd take her to lunch with the princesses. It's a great little break to sit down and eat a nice meal, while the princesses come to your table to visit with you, one at a time. Ally had a hard time concentrating on her meal, she was too distracted waiting for Cinderella to get to our table. All of the princesses who came to visit were so sweet, took lots of time with Ally talking to her, writing in her book, and taking photos. They tried to talk to H, but he didn't really care about the princesses.
After our princess experience we chose another loooong line for the Woody's Round Up ride. We hadn't been on it before and it was actually really cute. We rocked our 3D glasses and shot lots of bad guys, arcade style. Even though Dan hated the wait, I think the Woody ride was up there on his favorites list. But the ride wait exceeded our children's patience, so we headed home for a nap to rest up for the nightlife.
After quiet time and naps, we went back to California Adventure to experience the Soarin' over California ride (Ally's favorite), watch the World of Color show (which was amazing), rode the new Ariel ride. Then for an (almost) midnight snack, we walked across the park to Disneyland for, you guessed it, corndogs. It was getting super late, but the kids were full of energy so we rode Peter Pan and then shut the park down with the Tea Cups. Right as we were leaving Disneyland, sneaky Captain Hook was sitting on the bench right next to the exit. Hudson was elated. He had his pirate sword in hand and was ready to fight Captain Hook. But then, stage fright set in again, and he backed up timidly. So Ally stepped up to the plate and had a full on sword fight with Captain Hook, causing him to fall to the ground! Go Ally! Sweet Ally walked over and helped him up. He "knighted" her with his sword, and we left the park just after midnight.
Day four, success.
