Aloha Kindergarten

Well this school year flew. The last day of kindergarten came faster than I expected. It seemed like yesterday I dropped Ally off for her first day of school and suddenly it was time to plan the end of the year party. This would be the last job as Room Parent, which was sort of thrilling. It was a little more than I bargained for, but I was glad I was able to do it for Ally's first year of school. Maybe I'll take a few years off and just volunteer in the classroom until Hudson's class needs a Room Parent.

Mrs. T chose the theme "Aloha Kindergarten" which worked in my favor since every dollar section and 99 cent store was filled with luau goodies. I loaded up two carts at the Dollar Tree with grass skirts, beach buckets, sand toys, beach balls, Hawaiian punch, bubbles, stickers, any and all aloha party loot they had. It looked like a giant load of junk in the carts, but after I put all the buckets together, I decided it looked pretty Dollar Store chic.

At the party we played the Limbo, crafted tropical bird masks, bowled with coconuts, ate fruit kabobs, sipped pineapple juice, and presented Mrs. T with a special spa gift certificate and plants from each child. Mrs. T was retiring so I thought it was a cute way for her to remember her last class of kindergarteners. A garden full of plants and flowers her last class gave to her!

Ally had a ball at her party, as well as the rest of her little classmates. As for the other parents and myself, we were all pretty sentimental and sad it was over.  Goodbye Kindergarten, Hello First Grade!
